Call to ensure food safety

Corporate houses should ensure that safe food reaches the people through initiatives in organic farming, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, founder of the Art of Living movement, said here on Saturday.

A press note here said he was speaking at a seminar on “Corporate social responsibility in promoting organic farming and safe food,” organised by Art of Living, in association with the Centre for Innovation in Science and Social Action, the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development and the State Horticulture Mission.

He said corporate social responsibility was nothing but giving people buying power. Farmers should depend on mixed cropping and an integrated farming system as expounded by the saints of yore. L. Radhakrishnan, Chairman of the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust, moderated the discussions. P. Pushpangadan, scientist, spoke.
