Triple Eclipse Series to begin July '09 - What does this mean for the world?

The world is about to witness a rare astronomical event - a series of triple eclipses, beginning July 2009. The first in the series of triple eclipses will be a lunar eclipse on July 7, 2009 followed by a solar eclipse on July 22, 2009, and another lunar eclipse on August 6, 2009. 6 more such triple eclipses will happen over the next decade until 2020

His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, humanitarian whose Art of Living foundation is publishing the book says, “Everything in this world is connected. Everything affects everything else. The microcosm and the macrocosm are all interconnected. An analysis of this principle of cause and effect will open a new dimension in life.”

Commenting on the relevance of DK Hari and Hema Hari's work, Sri Sri said, “While Astronomy / Astrology studies the science of happenings, spirituality is the remedy. While Astronomy / Astrology indicates the powerlessness of human beings, spirituality brings to light the power within.” Read More

Teaching D.C. How to Take A Breather

About 200 people are sitting on yoga mats in a Washington hotel ballroom trying to learn how to do something they already do about 21,600 times a day: breathe.

This "automatic breathing" they've been doing all their lives? No good. So they're learning to breathe deeply from their diaphragms and hoping that benefits -- such as stress reduction, better sleep and increased mental focus -- will follow.

"If you're angry and you want to be calm, what do you do? Breathe how?" asks senior teacher Rajshree Patel from a stage at the front of the room, a white orchid at her side. "The breath of rest and relaxation. And you will see the mind will shift. If you switch the rhythm of breath, it will switch the emotion." Read More

The Federation of Indian Students of Australia (FISA) has come up with an initiative to run free capsule courses in self-defence in Australia for all the 11 victims of the racist attacks and their friends.

Amit Menghani, president, FISA, said the body has been meeting various student groups in Australia to come up with ways to instil confidence in the Indian community. “We are planning to conduct various courses for Indian students. We have decided to begin with self-defence and Sri Sri Ravishankar’s Art of Living classes,” Menghani said. Read More

Indian students in Australia urged to be calm

Bangalore: Spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar on Tuesday urged Indian students in Australia to stay calm and not to get provoked by attacks on them. "Time and again, Indians have demonstrated that peaceful methods of protest have a far greater power in achieving goals than any violent acts," the Art of Living founder said in a statement. "The Indian student community should take hope from this and use only peaceful means to redress their problems."
Ravi Shankar's appeal followed the alleged stabbing by Indians of an Australian after the latter abused them racially.
The latest incident followed several attacks on Indian students in Australia, mostly in Melbourne. The attacks have caused outrage in India and sparked mass protests by Indians in Australia. Read More
