Sri Sri praises Modi, asks people to vote for stable govt

CHANDRAPUR: In what could be viewed as another endorsement for BJP's PM candidate Narendra Modi, spiritual leader and founder of The Art of Living, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar on Wednesday praised the Gujarat chief minister for his performance in the state. He did not comment on Congress scion Rahul Gandhi but termed the Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as inexperienced to lead the country. They even asked people to elect an experienced party which could give a stable government.

"I do not know Rahul Gandhi, I have never met him. But I have met Narendra Modi and he has done good work in Gujarat," Ravi Shankar said while interacting with reporters on sidelines of his visit to Chandrapur for Divya Satsang programme organized at Chanda Club ground.

He lamented that criminal elements are dominating politics and asked parties to scrutinize candidates before giving them election tickets. He also urged people to elect fair and non-corrupt candidates to help form a stable government.

Ravi Shankar ruled out AAP as a good option to run the country. Replying to a query regarding whom he preferred between BJP and AAP, he said, "Both are good, but the new party (AAP) lacks experience to lead the country. AAP should concentrate on governing Delhi for some time as they are new in the field (politics). People should prefer more experienced party to lead the country." He termed AAP as a motorist with a learning licence, who cannot be asked to drive over a mountain track.
